Shoal was inspired by a river-rafting trip
Weiss took in Wyoming in 2003. The main river
channel had swift-moving water while the back-water's
stillness allowed the rocks to show below as well
as above on the dividing shoal. The painting is
32" x 46", framed "up-close"
in gray-washed ash, 33" x 47".
