Pebbles takes advantage of the texture
of the unusual paper to create very realistic
pebble textures. What isn't realistic is the
abstract and playful use of color in the spaces between the
rocks. These give the viewer something new
to discover each time this transparent watercolor
is seen. Patterns emerge both because of these
subtle colors and because of the play of light
and dark. Mounted on off-white linen, the 30"
x 40" watercolor is in a white-washed ash
frame, 37" x 47" overall.
