After Alaska

After Alaska was inspired by the high contrast of the broken ice floating in the glacier-bound waters and the densely-wooded cliffs reflected in the water. The ice seems luminous and unearthly. Weiss chose this transparent watercolor (all the whites are the whites of the paper) to represent her work in the 2002 Exhibition of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society held at the West Bend Art Museum. It was also in her solo show at the Charles Allis Art Museum, Milwaukee, May and June of 2003. The earthy colors are enhanced by being mounted on rich natural linen. Framed in gray-washed ash, image size 40"x26", it is 47"x33" overall.
